SO AS PEOPLE GO ONLINE TO LOOK AT THEIR PROPERTY TAX STATEMENT, THEY WILL SEE THE BREAKOUT BETWEEN HOW MUCH IS GOING ACTUALLY TO THE SCHOOL DISTRICT AND HOW MUCH IS GOING BACK TO THE STATE. AND HOPEFULLY THAT WILL JUST CLEAR SOME OF THAT UP FOR PEOPLE WHO MIGHT BE CONCERNED.
YOU SEE, THE HOUSE EDUCATION COMMITTEE PASSED A CS COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR HOUSE BILL TWO, AND THEY SAID DURING THE MEETING THAT THEY ARE STILL WORKING ON IT.
THERE ARE SOME DISTRICTS THAT HAVE ARE NOT FARING WELL, AND THEY'RE SOME OF OUR BIGGER DISTRICTS, NEIGHBORING DALLAS, AUSTIN THAT NEED A LITTLE BIT MORE HELP.
AND SO THEY'RE WORKING ON IT STILL. SO MY GUESS IS BY THE TIME THAT GETS ASSIGNED TO A FLOOR VOTE, THE BILL WILL LOOK EVEN DIFFERENT. ALSO TODAY THE HOUSE PASSED THE VOUCHER BILL, WHICH IS A COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR SENATE BILL TWO.

WE ALSO HAD A SUPPLEMENTAL BILL PASSED, WHICH IS ANOTHER PIECE OF GOOD NEWS THAT HAS SOME SHARS FUNDING IN IT.IT'S AN EMERGENCY BILL. SO IF IT CAN PASS WITH TWO THIRDS OF VOTE IN THE HOUSE AND THE SENATE, IT WILL GO RIGHT AWAY. IT'LL BE IMPLEMENTED RIGHT AWAY, WHICH IS GOOD.
THERE'S $934 MILLION IN IT TO BACKFILL WHAT FEDERAL FUNDING CAME OUT OF SHARS.

OH, BOY. BUT THAT'S GOOD BECAUSE THEY'RE THINKING ABOUT IT.
THEY ALSO EXEMPT PRIVATE SCHOOL STUDENTS FROM ANY TESTING BELOW THIRD GRADE AND SOME OTHER THINGS THAT KIND OF MAKE SENSE, AND I WON'T GO INTO THAT THERE. YOU ALL CAN READ THAT IN YOUR DOCUMENTS, BUT IT'S A LITTLE BIT IT'S A LOT DIFFERENT THAN THE SENATE.

SO EXAMPLE FOR THAT WOULD BE LIKE WE HAVE A GROW YOUR OWN GRANT WHERE WE ARE OUR CTE PROGRAM IS WORKING WITH OUR EDUCATION PATHWAYS TO GROW OUR OWN EDUCATORS THAT'S A DISCRETIONARY GRANT THAT WE'VE APPLIED FOR AND RECEIVED.
WE ALSO HAVE WHAT'S CALLED DISCRETIONARY NONCOMPETITIVE GRANTS, WHICH IS BASICALLY YOU CAN APPLY FOR THIS GRANT IF YOU ARE ON THIS PARTICULAR LIST. AND THAT'S USUALLY IN RESPONSE TO A PARTICULAR NEED THAT THE FEDS HAVE DECIDED THAT SCHOOL DISTRICTS MAY NEED THESE FUNDS OR, THE STATE HAS DECIDED THAT THE FUNDS CAN BE EARMARKED FOR THAT.

SO WE SUPPORT OUR TEAM AND THE ACTIVITIES OF OUR TEAM TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR TEACHERS ARE USING EFFECTIVE USES OF IMPLEMENTING THE BEST USES OF TECHNOLOGY. WE SUPPORT CRISIS COUNSELING.

WE HAVE MCKINNEY-VENTO OR WHAT IS COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS THE TEHCY GRANT.
THE TEXAS EDUCATION FOR HOMELESS CHILDREN AND YOUTH.
AND SO WE HAVE SOCIAL WORK SERVICES, TUTORING.
WE ALSO SPEND A LOT OF FUNDS HELPING TO TRANSPORT THE STUDENTS TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY'RE ABLE TO GET TO SCHOOL AND CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION. LAST AS FAR AS OUR ENTITLEMENT GRANTS ARE CARL PERKINS, WHICH IS OUR CTE GRANTS. AND THESE FUNDS GO TO SUPPORT THE ROBUST PATHWAY PROGRAMING THAT CREIGHTON AND THE CTE

AND THEN THIS NEXT SLIDE SHOWS THE AMOUNT OF FUNDS THAT WE RECEIVE, WHICH ARE OUR COMMODITY FUNDS, WHICH ARE GO TO SUPPORT THE FOOD COSTS FOR THE CHILD NUTRITION PROGRAM.
WE DO HAVE A FEW ADDITIONAL DISCRETIONARY FEDERAL AWARDS.

AND WHILE THEY'RE TAKING THEIR COURSEWORK TO SERVE AS AN EXTRA ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AND ON THE JOB TRAINING AS THEY ARE BECOMING A PRINCIPAL, WE HAVE OUR REFUGEE SUPPORT IMPACT GRANT THAT MR. MINISCALCO AND THE STUDENT SERVICES PROGRAM HAVE BEEN WORKING SO DILIGENTLY TO SERVE OUR STUDENTS THAT ARE REFUGEES.

AND THE OTHER THING IS SALARY INCREASES GO TO TRS AND THEY HELP OUR EMPLOYEES.
RETIREMENT HEALTH CARE PREMIUM INCREASES DO NOT IMPACT THE TRS RETIREMENT CALCULATION.

AND SO WE'RE, YOU KNOW, THERE IS THAT RISK ON THE GENERAL FUND SIDE.
NOW, ON THE FEDERAL GRANT SIDE, ONCE WE HAVE THE DOCUMENT THAT DOCTOR PATEL AND HER TEAM IS ACTIVELY LOOKING FOR EVERY DAY, THE NOTICE OF GRANT AWARD, ONCE WE GET THAT NOTICE OF GRANT AWARD, WE HAVE A VERY REASONABLE EXPECTATION THAT WE'RE GOING TO GET THAT FUNDING.
WE JUST HAVE TO TURN. BASICALLY, WE HAVE TO TURN IN OUR EXPENSE REPORT.
AND WE WILL GET THAT FUNDING SO THAT ONCE THAT ONCE THE NODE IS THERE, WE'RE NOT WORRIED ABOUT THAT.
AND THERE'S A OH, GOSH, A LITTLE OVER $200 MILLION IN ESSER FUNDING THAT SCHOOL DISTRICTS, THEY'VE BEEN GIVEN EXTENSION. AND THEN NOT EVERYBODY SPENT THEIR MONEY.
AND SO THEY'RE NOW LOSING ACCESS TO ABOUT $200 MILLION OF ESSER FUNDING IN THE STATE OF TEXAS.
RICHARDSON ISD HAS EXPANDED ITS ESSER FUNDS, HAS CLAIMED ITS ESSER FUNDS.
AND I KNOW ESSER SOUNDS VERY MUCH LIKE ESSER, AND THEY ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.
SO I KNOW I, I GAVE YOU PROBABLY A LITTLE MORE INFORMATION THAN YOU WANTED THERE IN THAT ANSWER.

SO I THINK THAT'S ANOTHER GREAT CHARGE WE SHOULD SET OUT.
IT'S SO INTERESTING. IN MEMBERS OF THE LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE YOU KNOW, WE ALL EXPERIENCE WHEN WE SAT DOWN WITH OUR LEGISLATORS, FOR EXAMPLE, AND WE JUST SHOWED THEM OUR EXPENDITURE CHART IN WHICH AN ALL OF THESE MAJOR AREAS, WHETHER IT'S SPECIAL EDUCATION, WHETHER IT WAS SAFETY AND SECURITY, TRANSPORTATION, HOW MUCH ADDITIONAL MONEY WE WERE SPENDING VERSUS WHAT WE WERE FUNDING, OUR FUNDING LEVELS WERE AND THESE ARE ALL THINGS THAT WE ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE PER STATE LAW.
AND I THINK ALL OF EVERYONE THAT WE WENT TO, IT WAS A LITTLE BIT OF A YEAH.
AND SOME OF THEM ARE TAXPAYERS TO RISD AS WELL.
